Recapping the Oklahoma Modernism Weekend: The Flashback Fashion Show

The Flashback Fashion Show has become such a huge part of the Oklahoma Modernism Weekend that we feel it deserves its own Mod Blog, especially when there are so many people taking photos of all of the lovely models and the fabulous vintage fashions.  This year, photographer Jared Kinley was on hand to shoot the show and he has kindly allowed us to share some of his images with you here.  In addition, the Junk Fairy herself, Debbie Ellis, is providing descriptions of the clothing for you.  So sit back, grab a snack, and enjoy all of the visual eye candy!

Lindsay adorns a fun, two-piece summer set that would be great for a frolicking and very mod picnic:

Vivian and Zella are ready for a weekend at Grandma’s their ’60s attire.  This is their second year modeling:

Roger models a sporty cabana shirt with white shorts and a happy straw hat:

Ashlyn is all glam in this dark red chiffon Jonathon Logan dress.  She’s also carrying a delightful strawberry straw purse:

Brayson models ’60s plaid pants and with a yellow Dalton knit shirt in a window pane pattern. This was his third year modeling at the Flashback Fashion Show, and he also served as emcee for the event:

Zhiane and London are going all-out mod with their colorful ensembles:

You’ve got to love the mix match of color, pattern, and texture with this inspired look modeled by the lovely Megan Carpenter:

Roger caused many an ooo and ahh with these pink corduroy pants and matching black sweater:

Brother and sister duo, Drew Cockrell (from Los Angeles) and Mandy Fleming (from Kansas) show off matching psychedelic outfits:

Meaghan shows off a classy ’60s tapestry hot pants and vest set:

Ashlyn stunned the crowd in these mod palazzo green and purple pants with matching tie up top:

Iris Perry, who is an acting student in Los Angeles, models a flower power, ’60s hot pants set with matching vest. She’s carrying a horoscope-themed wooden box purse:

Brayson is all sunshine in this ’60s yellow ensemble:

 Josie rocks it in these ’60s mod, waist high pantyhose boots called Pant T boots.

How crazy cool are they?  You’ll think they’re even cooler when you know that actress Miley Cyrus adorned this very pair of Pant T boots for a photo shoot at the Womb with famed photographer, Vijat Mohindra for Platik Magazine (emojis added by Debbie to keep everything g rated):

Round 3

Zhiane models a mod slip made for a mini skirt, and London is wearing another custom-made ’60s dog costume:

Brooke Taylor is looking very Greco-Roman in this ’50s pink nightgown with rhinestones and pearls.  Her hair is by Rose Swift and was inspired by a Mad Men episode — can you figure out which one?

Megan looks oh so feminine in this aqua lingerie set:

 

Will Hodges seems to enjoy showing off these skimpy-by-today’s-standards ’60s barkcloth trunks:

Roger cools off in these ’60s Jantzen cotton trunks:

And what better way to cap off the show than by taking a little dive into what is surely the most beautiful pool in the metro?
