turnbull house 2008

Designed by John Turnbull
1956
3512 E. Maxwell, OKC

John Turnbull designed many homes in Forest Park, but the most dramatic was the house he built on a large, hilly lot for himself and his family.

The carport of the split-level house was built into the bottom of a hill with the house raised at the hill’s apex.  The carport’s roof was at the house level and acted as a giant sun deck overlooking the creek below.

The home is still as dramatic today as it was when it was constructed over 60 years ago.
